Trivselhus by Esh launches new development at Hexham Gate
Posted 22 January 2016
Trivselhus by Esh is delighted to announce that work is set to start on a new collection of low-energy housing in Hexham from the 1st February. The 16 homes at Hexham Gate will represent the first development of its kind in the region, offering contemporary residential homes that take a fabric-first approach to achieving exceptional energy efficiency and sustainability.
Hexham Gate follows on from Trivselhus by Esh's smaller developments in Cumbria at Garth House Gardens and Eden Vale - five and three plots respectively - with a range of four and five bedroom detached houses priced from £425,000. The properties have now been released for sale via agents Sanderson Young, and will feature three new house styles, the Tavelan, Dellen and Storan, in addition to the Rengen and Kingen.

Colin Willetts, sales and marketing director at Trivselhus by Esh says,
“We are thrilled to be bringing landmark low-energy housing design to the North East with this exciting new development of Trivselhus by Esh homes at Hexham Gate.
“We recognise that low-energy housing is becoming increasingly important on the wish-list of features for modern homeowners and property professionals. A recent announcement suggested that the energy performance of a home will soon form part of the assessment criteria for mortgage affordability, which showcases just how demanding the energy running costs of a home can be on day to day financial stability.
“Trivselhus by Esh is blazing a trail in the development of large-scale housing developments that utilise modern design and energy efficient technologies to reduce both the financial burden on homeowners and also their carbon footprints. We focus on creating cutting-edge sustainable features at the design and build stage to ensure longer-term protection against rising energy costs into the future.
“Sustainable features relate to the actual fabric of the building and the energy-conserving technology within it, as well as more simple, everyday changes which can radically improve energy consumption within the home. Take, for example, the front door. In a Trivselhus by Esh home, the front door opens outwards and the postbox is on the exterior of the building. This ensures the tight seal around the door is never compromised and energy cannot escape through the letterbox. It’s a simple design change but one that can have a very noticeable impact on energy usage.”
The properties feature a modern, open plan ground floor living space and a fabric-first approach to building manufacture. The fabric-first process supports precision building design to create an airtight structure. This is allied with an air source heat pump, mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system (MVHR), and triple glazing to achieve what is known as a Climate Shield, ensuring a pleasant environment for homeowners no matter what the conditions outside. Each of the Trivselhus by Esh properties include solar photovoltaics on the roof to provide a reliable source of renewable energy.

Colin continues: “Up to this point, the rising costs of construction and land has meant homeowners interested in this type of forward-thinking property have been limited to enthusiastic self-builders with the funds to create a property matching this size and specification, but we hope to change this.
“At the first Trivselhus by Esh developments in Brampton and Wetheral near Carlisle, the Trivselhus by Esh concept was incredibly well received and hailed as a real breath of fresh air in housing design. We hope to replicate this positive reception when our first North East homes are ready to view at Hexham Gate in early Summer 2016.”
Further sites in Darlington and Langwathby are planned for later in 2016, helping the company to meet their target of 50 low-energy homes across the North in the next 12 months.
