The events you shouldn’t miss…
1st – 15th May: Cumbria’s Top 50 Trees Exhibition, Brewery Arts Centre
This exciting exhibition really kicks off the start of the spring/summer season. It features a collection of the county’s stand-out trees, like works of art created by nature itself. Not only does the exhibition take the age, size and beauty of the tree into account, they also have special memories attached to them – as these trees have been nominated by members of the public. You can even vote for your favourite tree!
19th May: The Chimpanzees of Happy Town, Bowness-on-Windermere
The Chimpanzees of Happy Town is Music in the Round’s latest live music concert designed for young children. It’s based on the beloved book by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees, and features the Round’s Composer in Residence Paul Rissman. The story is narrated by Polly Ives, and is a treat for the eyes and the ears with the work of talented musicians from Ensemble 360 and stunning visuals of projected storybook images. You won’t be able to get the catchy songs out of your head!
2nd – 4th June: Adventure Cycle Festival, Brathay Hall, Ambleside
The adventure cycle festival is a fun event for the active family. In addition to cycling, there are plenty of other sports and fitness forms to try your hand at. For the more ambitious fitness fanatics there is even a cross challenge event, a guided overnight backpacking trip across the lakes, a hill climb challenge, workshops and film screenings. Want another reason to get the whole family involved? Under 16s go free!
29th June – 2nd July: Carlisle Arts Festival 2017, Carlisle
Venues, atmosphere and talent. There’s so much to see and do at the Carlisle Arts Fest, making this one event you simply can’t miss. The Arts Fest is the celebration of all things creative.
